Saying the words and tapping along suggests the following metre and rhythm

Wa -a -ves are  d-an -c- ing | fast   an-d bright

The metre is four time, with an anacrusis and final bar of just 3 beats.

Finally  add an opening tempo direction, dynamics and SLURS!
